Vulpiano Records

Marilyn Roxie

Vulpiano Records was launched in November 2009 by synth musician Marilyn Roxie, initially as a place to house great unsigned and independent artists they had come in contact with through networking in the music blogosphere. The concept behind Vulpiano is simple: to offer quality free music. Genres we specialize in are ambient, electronic, and acoustic. All artists are linked by their spirit of independence and experimentation. We hope you enjoy and share the music.

Thorn1 - The Leave of Leaves (VULP-0072) Thorn1 is experimental drone, shoegaze, post-rock project of Evgeny Zheyda from Siberia Russia. Note from Evgeny Zheyda: This album finally threatens to regenerate into something you do not expect. I tried to put maximal honesty and sincerity in The Leave of Leaves and to create music I want to listening to. Without any allowances. From post-punk to enveloping drone and post-rock, from electronic to raw guitars. But it's not a post-rock, it's not a...

About release: I think, while working on this release I’ve finally approached the line beyond which my own role in the process of creation is minimized. During two working months the overall concept was changed so many times, that I’ve finally realized there’s no need for it. Sometimes the material seemed to evolve separately, on its own, leaving me only a mechanical work to record what was happening. About project: North hive is an electro-acoustic project established on May 2012 in...

VULP-0013 is Natural Snow Buildings' first release of 2010, the free-for-download double LP The Centauri Agent! On part one, the 41 minute "Our man from Centauri" sets the stage, a cosmic, sprawling opener with themes that continue on into "The accidental remote viewer", before fizzling out into static. Part two is comprised of nine beautiful and intense tracks (particular stand-outs including "The Psychic Circle/Uchronia", "The storm of resurrection",...

Aseptic Void - Carnal (VULP-0045) is out now. Italian multi-instrumentalist Davide T, known here as Aseptic Void, has followed up their previous Vulpiano Records EP Alone with an impressive continuation of dark themes and masterful use of static, haunting spaces in their music, including silence. "The theme of the album is the flesh and abominations of the concepts of limit. A black hole of anti-identity in which to get pleasantly lost. The truth of the flesh is multifaceted."

North Hive - Immersion (VULP-0051) Immersion is a beautiful little album. It unravels slowly in its title track opener with sounds recalling nature, looping and enveloping, repetition morphing into change, and — later — voices. Spring-like and peaceful. "Immersion" fades into the meditative "Hyperborea", rippling waves of sound carrying the listener onward (and is that kittens I hear?). "Satellite" seems to depart from earth, off into space, more whirring and...

We're proud to present a newcomer to Vulpiano Records: My Heart, Your Thunder, whose EP Sore Tooth offers an assortment of electronic styles and moods. My personal favorite tracks on this release are the industrial-tinged "Good Luck" and playful "End Boss". Prolific electronic artist Walt Thisney joins Vulpiano with EP 'Bhakthis'. Sentimental, alien, nocturnal instrumentals for a weird evening...or any time. About Walt Thisney: Walt Thisney selects and mixes music for the mind and body in the same quantities that emerges from encounters between the past and the present, drawing beauty of the commonplace, wiping, polishing it, giving it life again, so to produce the same effect of the original freshness and spontaneity, a mirror that transforms it...

Vulpiano Records is very pleased to welcome back Andy Baker (aka Anton Rothschild, and member of Fire Island Pines) for his release as Branch Line Idols. Baker continues to excel at sophisticated rhythms and a spacious minimalism in electronic sound and the art of pop as it should be. *** "I can't reach out with my hands.  I can't touch things.  And when I touch, I feel nothing" Very loosely translated, and then further paraphrased, these are the sentiments of Alain Leroy, the...

Part of the Lately Kind of Yeah archive series.  Sol Saga returns to the electronic, video game feel of The Lost Adventures of Vexx, though the latter is more organic in theme and the former concerning space. Strong tracks from this release include the opener “Hustler of Obsession” — which seems to go through several movements, building in intensity and powerfully setting the stage for the release — and the quirky “Through the Crystal Wall”. “Evasion” is another favorite,...

Another fine Vulpiano Records release, VULP-0010 is Worthy Eardrum Party's Lost Property, a compilation of home recordings. Comprised of past/present Henry's Phonograph members, Worthy Eardrum Party combines a dose of nostalgia, recalling classic 60s melodic harmony (Power Shift) and garage themes (Watching the Spiral), with a penchant for sound exploration and crafting memorable, summery tunes. Upon initially hearing Lost Property, I was entirely blown away as to why there weren't thousands of...

King Elizabeth -  The Awakening  (VULP-0162) Picking up from where King Elizabeth left off in 2012 with   Miami ,  The Awakening  contains all of the mesmerizing synth hooks and passionate vocal lines you’d hope for. The sultry “Mother” and churning title track “The Awakening” are among my favorites in this dark gleam of brilliance — 7 years in the making! — that Vulpiano Records is delighted to present.  Words from the artist: It's been a long journey to get to this point...

the narrow musketeer's self-titled release (VULP-0037) is out now! The new incarnation of Le Fils des Trois Mousquetaires (Belgium) includes some Le Fils tracks reworked and mastered, while preserving a lo-fi atmosphere and even making use of background noise to create a faux violin effect (ripper wave), as well as new material. As ever, the artist is shrouded in obscurity, greeting the potential listener with a surreal net art-savvy cover. the narrow musketeer is melancholy, melodic, and...

The Long Afternoon originally formed as an indie rock group in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1985. Dissolving in the late 80s, guitarist and vocalist Eston Martz carried on studying music and, inspired by the reunions of Wire and Mission of Burma, Martz returned to the studio and reformed The Long Afternoon with drummer Greg Elliott and former Seen bassist Jeff Edmunds. The band released The Luxury Problem (2006) and Signifying Nothing (2009), with third album An Index of Maladjustments (2011)...

Vulpiano Records release VULP-0006, Vito Genovese - Dead Ends and Fire Extinguishers! Known primarily for a slew of electronic releases on Rate Your Music, Vito has recently put out what is surely his best album yet, blending harrowing lo-fi electronic elements with chugging white noise like steam, and more modern ambient-electronic pieces like Rainy Bus Stop Afternoon and Warehouse Blues. Recommended for any fan of ambient/electronic and video game soundtracks.

Lately Kind of Yeah -  Two Shapes Apart  (VULP-0134) Following up from  The Lost Adventures of Vexx ,  Two Shapes Apart  is another entry in the  Lately Kind of Yeah  archive series. While  The Lost Adventures of Vexx  is electronic,  Two Shapes Apart  goes acoustic. In turns mellow ( " Cracked End " ), as the cover art suggests, and more haunting ( " Silk of Twins " ), this release offers a selection of sketches that show an artist in progress. The warm and...

Sturm und Drang  is a greatly improved and expanded  Storm and Urge ,  originally released on Vulpiano   back in 2011. Awash with noise but still so sweet, and perhaps one of the warmest, coziest releases LKOY’s discography. Words from the artist: "Marking a start to the singer-songwriter transition, I went away from sequencing synths and into learning how to sing. It was...

Vulpiano Records release VULP-0009, Ava Zandieh - Patterns and Drones. Ava came across Vulpiano Records through me posting about it on Tumblr. She introduced me to the project which she recorded for International Album Making Month in October of 2009. Patterns and Drones is the final version of that album, with some of the original songs included, some reworked, and brand new ones added in. Patterns and Drones is primarily piano-based and made ethereal through Ava's soulful, yet light and airy...

Hanetration's Torn Heat EP (VULP-0041) full of delightfully gauzy textures - dreamlike and at times sinister. Based in London, UK, Hanetration has crafted a work of interest to glitch, drone, and ambient fans alike with this EP. Torn Heat EP is a strong follow-up to Tenth Oar EP (self-released earlier this year), including four tracks that thematically build off of one another, from the minimal, yet adventurously engaging "Jurassic" to the closer "Flicker", functioning as a...

Richey Hackett’s  The Ambulance  is the first release from the artist on Vulpiano Records since 2011′s  Flawed Above Bored  and a single from his upcoming album  Ephemeral ; we are incredibly pleased to have him back with us. “The Ambulance” and its b-side “The Weight Around Your Neck” are great compliments to one another, giving you both industrial crunch and sweet acoustic whispers in one lovely little package.

The soundscapes of King Elizabeth glimmer with an irresistible electronic sheen and adamant vocals.
